Author Jamie B. Gillis, RPLS, PLS

Jamie Gillis has more than 15 years of surveying experience internationally and in the U.S., including five years in Texas. He has served as instrument man, survey assistant, party chief, offshore survey technician, project manager, and professional land surveyor. His early surveying experience includes performing numerous field assignments in Nova Scotia, Canada. More recently he served as RPLS/project manager for a number of natural gas gathering pipeline projects, oil and gas lease and location surveys, boundary, topographic and hydrographic surveys, and he was involved with offshore positioning and metrology, and monitoring and logging surface and subsurface positioning data in the Gulf of Mexico. Jamie is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas and Louisiana and is very active in the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors. He holds a BS in Geographic Information Sciences, Geomatics Emphasis, from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi as well as a BA in History and Political Science from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jamie currently serves as vice president of Geomatic Resources, where he handles all technical support for Leica Geosystems GPS, robotics, data collectors, total stations and multistations in North Texas and Oklahoma.
